Kane Home Inspection Services is a family-owned business. I do one inspection a day which allows me to walk through and explain things to my clients along with addressing any concerns they may have during the evaluation. Depending on the size of the home my inspections can take anywhere from 3-5 hours with larger homes and multi-unit dwellings taking 6-8 hours.
One of the services Kane Home Inspections offers is Air Capture Testing. The air capture test consists of 1 outdoor sample along with an indoor sample for each level of the residence (depending on the size of the home). This test will ascertain if there are mold spore “chains” present in the air. The presence of mold spore “chains” is usually indicative of significant mold growth in an area that can’t always be seen i.e. behind walls, under floors, behind insulation or inside air (heating and air conditioning) distribution lines. Results from the lab have been known to take 2-3 business days.
One of our other services is Sewer Scope where a camera is inserted into the drain/sewer line that runs from the homes foundation to the street. In this evaluation we attempt to determine if there are any deficiencies in the line. Sewer lines have been known to crack, deteriorate, or separate at the joints. Sewer lines have also been found to be clogged with various types of debris, concrete or had roots penetrate and grow through them which can cause major concerns. The cost of repairing or replacing the sewer line from the homes connection to the street can be substantial. This process is recorded and provided to the client in a report with a video link.
Radon testing is a service provided to clients to help ascertain if there are elevated readings of radon in the home. Kane Home Inspection Services utilizes (2) charcoal canisters that are placed into the lowest living and or inhabited space in the home for 48 hours in what is known as closed door / window conditions. This means that the windows must stay closed for the duration of the test however, family members can utilize doors and the living space (including heating and air conditioning) as normal. The canisters are then sent off to the lab for evaluation with results provided usually in 5-7 business days.
Kane Home Inspection Services utilizes a thermography camera as one of our tools during our home inspections. This allows me to evaluate areas that have indications of concerns such as ceiling stains, wall stains or discoloration and exterior stucco deficiencies. The camera is also utilized to assist in evaluating exterior doors, breaker panels, attic access panels and radiant heating.
Kane Home Inspection Services will contact a termite inspection company for the client if requested. During my home inspection, I have a significant amount of work to do and areas to evaluate and feel that my clients are better served having such an important detail delegated to a professional in that field. Kane Home Inspections Services will always note if we happen to come across evidence of Termite, PowderPost Beetle or other WDI (Wood Destroying Insects) however, we strongly suggest hiring and obtaining the services of a trained professional in that field.
Kane Home Inspection Services will certainly note in our report visually obvious indications of fungal grow. However, we are not licensed to do more intrusive probing, drilling and testing as are certified licensed Mold Inspection / Remediation Contractors. Kane Home Inspection Services will usually recommend further evaluation by a Mold Inspection / Remediation Contractor if there are significant visible indications of fungal growth and or if the Air Capture Testing analysis from the lab indicates high levels of mold spore “chains”.
